Sprayed Concrete at Woolwich Jetty – SHOTCRETE 530

Project: Sprayed Concrete at Woolwich Jetty

    Product: SHOTCRETE 530

    Contractor: Concrete Repairs Ltd.

    Client: Transport for London

Transport for London (TFL) appointed Concrete Repairs Ltd (CRL) to carry out structural as well as essential refurbishment works at the Woolwich Ferry Jetty. Woolwich being an essential Thames crossing connecting Woolwich and North Woolwich since 1965.

The project involved hydro-demolition and sprayed concrete repair works across more than 100 reinforced concrete piles. CRL chose Shotcrete 530—a fast-setting, dry spray concrete from Natural Cement—for its exceptional performance in tidal marine environments.

Tidal fluctuations of up to 7 metres meant that setting speed was critical. Shotcrete 530 begins setting in just four minutes, preventing washout even in fast-moving water. Gunite Solutions Ltd, specialists in sprayed concrete application, managed the install and were “amazed” by the rapid set times achieved on site.

As with all Natural Cement materials, Shotcrete 530 contains no added chemicals, is environmentally friendly, and poses no risk to marine life. It’s also highly resistant to salt water and chemical exposure, making it ideal for marine infrastructure, waterproofing, and tunnel linings.

This project demonstrates how sprayed concrete systems like Shotcrete 530 can deliver fast, reliable repairs in demanding tidal conditions—without compromising on environmental standards.
