Project: Masonry Repairs at Southport College
Product: NATCEM® 35
Contractor: Anderton Structural Repair Services
Southport College needed urgent repairs to key masonry features in and around their campus, including window hoods, sills, lintels, and string courses. To carry out the work, ASRS (Anderton Structural Repair Services) selected NATCEM® 35, a mortar known for its reliability as well as its performance.
Because the college stayed operational throughout the repairs, the team needed a fast and low-disruption solution which could often prove an issue of work like this. However, NATCEM® 35 was the perfect fit – especially when in use by Anderton.
NATCEM® 35 is a rapid-setting, environmentally friendly mortar. It works without primer, bonding agents, or curing aids. Moreover, it can be used in cold conditions and holds DWI Reg.31 approval — making it safe for public and educational settings.
For this project, it offered:
Fast setting and early strength gain
Strong adhesion, even vertically
Minimal prep as well as no curing being required
A natural finish that blended with existing masonry and furthermore the aesthetic of the college overall.
ASRS started by wire brushing the affected masonry to remove loose material. This ensured a solid base for repair.
Then, Anderton Structural Repair Solutions applied NATCEM® 35 directly onto each damaged feature. As a result, the team restored the window and façade details quickly and cleanly — without the need for additional treatments or curing time.
The project ran from 16th to 30th July 2024 and finished on time. The repairs caused minimal disruption, which was essential for a live college site.
Thanks to NATCEM® 35, ASRS delivered long-lasting results with an efficient, no-fuss application – to learn more about the methodology, Anderton’s own write-up of the work can be found on their site – either by following this link or by visiting Anderton’s projects page.
