Chalmers Construction undertook extensive structural repairs to a historical bridge in Dumfries. The bridge, which had suffered significant erosion as well as internal voids, and instability over time, required a robust repair strategy to restore its integrity and also its longevity.
A structural survey revealed extensive joint erosion. Furthermore, voids within the wall and compromised stability of the bridge were found. In response, the contractor was tasked with repointing the wall as well as stabilising internal voids, and constructing a new retaining structure to protect and reinforce the original wall also.
The repair solution specified Natural Cement’s NATCEM® 35, NATCEM® AC, NATCEM® Retarder, as well as CWG Grout for their high-performance characteristics, ensuring compatibility with the existing masonry and long-term durability.
