Project: Coastal Erosion Repair at Talacre Lighthouse – NATCEM® 35
Location: Point of Ayr Lighthouse, Wales
Product: NATCEM® 35.
Contractor: Tempo-PCE
Talacre Lighthouse, also known as the Point of Ayr Lighthouse, stands on the rugged North Wales coastline. It is frequently exposed to harsh weather conditions from the Irish Sea, including tidal waves as well as high winds. Over time, these extreme elements have caused significant damage to the lighthouse’s base, requiring repair to ensure its structural integrity.
As part of its restoration efforts, the lighthouse’s base needed a solution that could withstand the relentless coastal forces. The project required a durable material that could be applied quickly and effectively to protect the lighthouse for years to come.
Tempo-PCE used NATCEM® 35 to great success at Talacre Lighthouse. First, they cleaned the damaged areas, removing debris and loose material. This step ensured the surface was ready for the mortar application.
Next, a scratch coat of NATCEM® 35 was applied to the eroded areas, providing a solid foundation. Once the scratch coat set, a top coat was applied for added strength. This two-step process guaranteed long-lasting protection against further coastal erosion.
The coastal erosion repair at Talacre Lighthouse restored the structure’s integrity and protected it from further damage. Tempo-PCE applied NATCEM® 35 to effectively address the erosion caused by the Irish Sea. The use of NATCEM® 35 provided a strong, durable solution that ensures long-lasting protection. Thanks to its rapid-setting properties, the team completed the repairs efficiently, minimising disruption. This project highlights how NATCEM® 35 can deliver reliable coastal erosion repair for vulnerable structures.
