As a part of a wider building repair project at the Newport Transport Hub, engineers needed a fast, strong and overall reliable material in order to carry out urgent concrete restoration works across multiple structures. The selected solution had to be able to perform in damp conditions unquestionably, cure rapidly, and provide long-term resilience — all while minimising operational disruption.
Cracking and furthermore spalling in vertical and overhead concrete surfaces, including areas of the office building and several bus sheds, posed a serious risk to structural integrity. A building repair material was required that could be applied cleanly as well as quickly, and without reliance on external curing agents.
NATCEM® 35 was chosen by Anderton, the contractor carrying out the works, for its rapid-setting formulation and excellent handling characteristics regardless of environment. The material allowed for:
