NATCEM® 35 in Action – UNDERWATER!

At Natural Cement, we sing the praises of our products a lot – why wouldn’t we?

One of these most commonly referenced is our products, specifically NATCEM® 35‘s, ability to set UNDERWATER, with no washout, and no danger to human or marine life (owing to its DWI Reg.31 approval, meaning it is safe for potable water).

Now despite that, we don’t always have the means to showcase that as best as we’d like, we’re manufacturers and not cinematographers. That changes now, as we’ve got a prime example of NATCEM® 35 in use underwater, courtesy of GEORGE LESLIE LTD. NATCEM® 35 was used in Scalasaig, on the Isle of Colonsay as part of the New Islay Vessel Enabling Works project. GEORGE LESLIE used divers with underwater cameras to verify their work, and in that video (below) you are able to see steel pile collars, made up of our mortar, used to weigh down the supports of a pier structure – so that it doesn’t simply float away, or sink.

The tops of the cylindrical steel pile collars are covered in debris unfortunately as boats in the water stir up sand and other debris which have ended up settling on top of the NATCEM® 35, but the structures still stand strong.
