How to Mix and Apply NATCEM® 35: Simple, Reliable, and Site-Ready

When it comes to cement-based repair materials, complexity slows everything down. That’s why NATCEM® 35 has been designed to be straightforward to mix, easy to apply, and consistent on site.

In fact, once you understand the basics, mixing and applying NATCEM® 35 becomes second nature. There’s no complicated process, no specialist training required, and no unnecessary steps.

Mixing NATCEM® 35 Is Simple by Design

To mix NATCEM® 35 correctly, start by adding 3.6 litres of clean water to a bucket or mixer. Then, gradually pour the NATCEM® 35 powder into the water. This order matters, as it helps prevent dry pockets and also ensures a smooth, even mix. It should be noted that more water can be added to the mix for a more fluid consistency, to a maximum of 4 litres.

For best results, we recommend using a rosebud paddle. This provides thorough blending and helps achieve a consistent, workable mortar. Standard mixing paddles can also be used, provided the material is fully incorporated.

After a short mixing period, NATCEM® 35 reaches a cohesive, as well as lump-free consistency and is ready for immediate use. No additives are required, and there is no extended mixing time.

    Flexible Application Methods on Site

Once mixed, NATCEM® 35 can be applied using a range of methods, depending on the nature of the repair. Common application techniques include:

    • Hand application

    • Trowel application

    • Pumped application

Because NATCEM® 35 behaves predictably, operatives can apply it with confidence, even in demanding site conditions. Moreover, the mortar maintains its integrity during placement, helping to achieve a clean, well-compacted repair.

    Designed for Real-World Conditions

NATCEM® 35 is formulated for practical use. It gains strength rapidly, as well as performing reliably in challenging conditions, and allowing work to progress efficiently.

As a result, teams spend less time managing the material and more time delivering quality repairs and reliable strength. In many cases, operatives are comfortable mixing and also applying NATCEM® 35 after their very first batch.

Common Mixing and Application Mistakes to Avoid

Although NATCEM® 35 is easy to use, a few simple mistakes can affect performance:

    • Adding water to powder instead of powder to water, which can lead to poor consistency

    • Under-mixing, resulting in dry material or uneven performance

    • Over-watering, which can reduce strength and workability

    • Mixing too far in advance, rather than mixing only what can be placed within the working time (if longer setting times are required, speak to us about NATCEM® Retarder)

By following the recommended mixing method and working efficiently, these issues are easily avoided.

    Built to Keep Things Simple

At its core, NATCEM® 35 is about removing unnecessary complication from repair work. By keeping mixing and application straightforward, it helps contractors achieve reliable results with minimal fuss.
